History of the Ruger P95 through P-96 pistol, also refereed to as the early P series pistols:

The P95, which Ruger sneakily retired in October of 2013, was the last of the P-series pistols . Few lamented the passing of this under appreciated pistol.

Earlier P-series pistols, were steel- or aluminum-framed, and were offered in calibers; 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. The P95, which was introduced in 1996, lost about a half inch of barrel and was the first in the series to feature a polymer frame mated to a blued or stainless slide.
